Red Poppy Brooch by Michael Michaud White Lodge Incense For a more eco-friendly cleaningFollowing the trench warfare of the first World War which took place in the poppy fields of Flanders, red poppies have become a symbol of remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime. The use of the poppy was inspired by the World War I poem "In Flanders field". Its opening lines refer to the many poppies that were the first flowers to grow in the churned up earth of soldiers' graves in Flanders. Red Poppies, or artificial ones, are worn on
