Admittedly, to make this happen you do need infinite mana, or 40+ at least, which isnt easy to come by
Aether Vial decks, like Death & Taxes, put themselves far enough ahead to leverage that mana denial
It enables fast combos by acting as additional copies of your Thassa's Oracle, but its far more flexible than that
