Curious pineapple sized cones are produced in the highest branches when mature. Extremely slow growing (perhaps 1 2 inches per year!) so although ultimately a very large tree, Araucaria can be considered as a small tree for most practical purposes. Introduced to this country in 1795, the peculiar Araucaria became very fashionable in the Victorian age,
