A bold outline describes a striking profile a strong portrayal in red chalk. This skilful portrait study by Swedish artist, Roland Svenssen (1910 2003) was created in 1930. Its been suggested that it could be a self portrait but we feel its probably more likely to be his friend, Emil Norrstrm. Norrstrm owned the portrait previously and hes referred to in several letters.
