Lighting The coffer has some wearA large 19th century English School portrait of a seated gentleman in a black suit, housed in an attractive and substantial gilt frame. The work is monogrammed 'RT' and dated 1884 to the lower left corner. The work has undergone restoration with the restorer's stamp evident verso (Phil J Simmonds & Sons, Essex). Some evidence of restoration can be seen when viewing the work up close under a light, to the right forehead for example (please see
