Denver Tramway Corporation system map, 1933 Size:14x14 so I figured I’d takeLike most American cities, Denver had an extensive streetcar system before World War II. Unusually, they used the Australian word "tramway," to describe their system, rather than the more common "streetcar" or "trolley." The system ran from 1886 until streetcar service was discontinued in 1950. They also maintained an extensive trolleybus system, which enabled the company to avoid its obligation to maintain the streets that its streetcars ran on.
