珍しい六角の塗盆です。

博物館級のコンディションの、奈良時代（710年〜794年）の布目瓦です。布目あとは造瓦過程で使用した麻布によって生じたもので、飛鳥以降、奈良・平安時代の瓦に多く見られます。本品は岐阜市鶴田町で出土したものです。

薄作りに、灰色に硬く焼きしまった肌に触れると緊張感が伝わりくるようです。
