須恵器平瓶（古墳時代） （古墳時代 3-7世紀）。

本品のような焼締陶の源流は、古代中国の殷（いん）代にはじまる灰陶と呼ばれる硬質土器にまで遡ります。大きな穴窯の中で、高温で焼き締める技法は、三国時代の朝鮮半島を統一しようとしていた新羅（しらぎ）へと伝わりました。
