公認日本語教師の資格化が検討される中、成長し続ける日本語教師の育成のために教師教育者に求められる力とは何か。養成課程／初任段階／中堅段階の日本語教師という段階別に、どのような支援ができるのか、具体的な研修方法を紹介。■「はじめに」より2019（令和元）年6月28日、通称「日本語教育推進法」が施行されました。それに伴い、「公認日本語教師」という新たな資格の設置についての議論が始まり、質の高い日本語教師の育成が急務となりました。しかしながら、日本語教師の育成に関して、養成課程から現職教師の研修までを体系的にまとめた書籍は、令和の時代になっても、私の知る限り見当たりません。そこで、長年日本語教師の育成について研究と実践を積み重ねてきた者として、これまでの知見をまとめて書籍化したいと考えたことが、本書が生まれた背景です。そういった意味で本書は、日本語教師教育についての私自身の「学びの集大成」のようなものだと考えています。
