Lord Derby Year:2 YR dating from 1902A very hardy cooking apple. Similar in shape to Catshead (one of its parent varieties), green turning to yellow once ripe. Large fruit with a rich, sharp flavour. Grows well in wetter soil (a favourite in Scotland) and described in the Herefordshire Pomona 1876 85 as 'one of the finest culinary apples'. A reliable cropper, with fantastic blossom.
