I love how the walk to the St Mary's Abbey draws one up the hill and closer to the sky and the infinity beyond

all of the towns and villages all the way up to Belleek in the distance

The gate was open and I walked in. Although I have spent many years walking around the park I had never been inside the garden and as soon as I saw it I knew this was the angle I wanted to paint. The planting in front of the tower provided me with a range of complementary colours and shapes and grounded the tower in nature. I enjoyed the opportunity
