While players cant damage each other directly, they can attack their opponents characters in order to slow their acquisition of lore (needed to win the game) and remove powerful effects from the field

They are: creature, land, instant, sorcery, artifact, enchantment, planeswalker, battle, and kindred

On the other hand, this can be a bit of a bummer if you were hoping to get a helpful trigger from casting an expensive spell since a multikicker spell wont be considered a higher mana value no matter how much mana you pump into it
