When was New Capenna Commander released
It was only available in vending machines at the World Hobby Fair #7, back in 1998, for a very limited time and in very limited quantity
I could have picked [casthaven]Dragonlord Silumgar[/casthaven] [casthaven]Mind Control[/casthaven] or [casthaven]Grimgrin, Corpse-Born[/casthaven] Zombies, but eventually I was taken back to Gatecrash and [casthaven]Lazav, Dimir Mastermind[/casthaven], The Clone Deck. I havent seen a deck in the archetype survive beyond a one week metagame of sorts, but I have a had a bit of history with the archetype, dating as far back as 2012 when I built a Blue/Black casual 60-card deck to play on the floor or at the kitchen table of my friends apartments in multiplayer
Commander players put in a boatload of creatures with activated abilities and static abilities or even just good ETBs, and this allows you to nuke everyone *elses* graveyard while getting some amount of value for yourself
