Gix Tempo Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor is essentially Mono Black Edric, Spymaster of Trest that has a slightly weaker card draw engine (you have to pay life) and weaker colors but instead comes with a built-in finisher, trading your individually weaker cards of 1/1 evasive creatures for actual haymakers and win conditions of your opponents' libraries
However, the specific evasion granted by The Ring (essentially skulk) means this is usually a single, small creature chipping away at your life the kind of situation where three life from a Food really matters
The most recent Secret Lair drop featured foil constellation versions of the original Theros Gods, and there was a bit of a debate about whether the cards should be compared to their original foil value (which is quite high) or non-foil value
Some opponents really hate it when you play with their cards, but that kind of hatred is what eldrazi are all about
(I notoriously don't play enough basic lands.) It being Legendary hardly matters, and is even a boon for Captain Sisay
