According to 17Lands, Lasting Tarfire has, at the time of writing, the worst "Improvement In Hand" rate of any card in the set at -4.3%
This card is great with artifacts like Winter Orb and Static Orb because you can tap them on the end step before your turn so you arent affected while your opponents cant play the game
But it works with cards that are saga creatures on their front side because they are enchantments

Unlike Evolving Wilds and other variants though, Ash Barrens can be played and tapped for mana immediately, so it's not as slow as some of the alternatives
